Dr Tungamirai Simbini is currently with the University of Zimbabwe, College of Health Sciences where he teaches in the Department of Physiology. Dr Simbini is co-PI of the EMDIYA (Ethics for Mental health Digital Innovations for Youth in Africa) project.

Dr Simbini has an MBChB degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in Biomedical Informatics from Oregon Health and Sciences University. Currently, he is working on setting up an Informatics and Analytics programme at the local university.  He has over 15 years’ experience in Informatics related projects spanning the Southern African Development Community Region.  His work spans population-level information systems through applications such as the District Health Information Systems, patient-level information systems through electronic health records, and a number of mobile health applications. His areas of interest include the application of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning in Health.
